about stripe creative

Darren Hunt

Darren is Stripe Creative’s UX/UI Design Director. He’s a highly experienced user interface/user experience graphic designer whose career has ranged from working with small independent start-ups to leading UK agencies and blue chip companies.

Darren is skilled at listening to, understanding and interpreting clients’ individual requirements; translating them into effective design solutions, website/app structures and content strategies.

His knowledge and experience of user experience design and wireframing means that he takes user-focused analysis and feedback and then designs creative digital solutions that deliver real results; positively impacting sales and website goals to give both client and end user satisfaction.

Recent clients have included Direct Line, University of Exeter, First Bus; tourism and hospitality clients such as Blue Chip Holidays, Haulfryn Group and Buccaneer Holdings Ltd; lifestyle companies such as Kingcome Sofas bespoke furniture maker, as well as several start-up app developments.

He has been a UX mentor with Career Foundry for the past few years; ‘giving something back’ by guiding and supporting UX designers of the future through the Career Foundry course, something that he finds both inspiring and fulfilling.

Darren’s favourite activity involves being on two wheels. He regularly commutes the 40 mile round trip to Stripe Creative by bike and loves to challenge himself by competing in cycling sportives, which is lucky as he’s dangerously fond of a cream tea.

Helen Leslie

Helen is a fellow Director of Stripe Creative with skills complementing Darren’s - he designs, she illustrates; she writes, he does the UX. Partners in life and work (not in crime as yet!), Helen and Darren decided to bring in her illustration, copywriting and website content creation skills to help Stripe Creative grow and broaden the services offered to clients.

Helen’s experience is in both the private and public sectors, working for organisations as diverse as the University of Exeter; the Stovax, Gazco and Original Style Group of companies and small independent design agencies.

Helen has worked in a wide variety of media and marketing, from editorial and artworking on magazines such as Top Gear and Period Living; managing web content and providing internal training on international language-version websites for clients such as Schwarzkopf; management of multi-company group websites and PR for the Stovax Group, and content management across the University of Exeter’s corporate website.

Helen developed extensive team leadership experience during 12+ years at the University of Exeter, greatly enjoying supporting and mentoring colleagues. Helen is especially supportive of flexible working and the development of women’s skills at work. Successful completion of the Aurora Women’s Leadership programme in 2017 was fulfilling and inspirational.

With a degree in Fashion Promotion and Illustration from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design, Helen enjoys bringing these creative skills together to benefit Stripe Creative clients.

Favourite activities include illustrating artwork for children’s books and interiors, and fighting the good fight against garden weeds, trying to make sure that flowers win.
